On Thursday 22nd September, Enniskillen Castle reopened to the Public with the relocation of a new visitors centre. The Heritage Gateway Project for the area included new galleries and exhibitions, Visitor Centre, children’s activities, ‘behind the scenes’ rooms and redeveloped grounds. The multi-million pounds project received funding from the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund; the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007-2013 administered by Tourism Northern Ireland; the Department for Communities – Historic Environment Division; Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and the Friends of Fermanagh County Museum. QMAC were delighted to be a part of this amazing project and in creating a legacy generations to come.
