Construction of Housing at Main Street, Dundrum

QMAC Construction was appointed by Clanmil to build new housing on the site of a former hotel along Main Street in Dundrum, Co. Down. The project involved the construction of 12 apartments in one block and five dwellings in a separate block, together with associated site engineering work. Key challenges included:

• Working on a brownfield site which involved site remediation.
• The design and construction of specialist shoring as the site was located directly between existing dwellings.
• The design and construction of a retaining wall due to the proximity of a Doctor’s Surgery immediately behind the site.

The project was successfully completed in 2018.
